Quick answer
If a quest shows complete but the reward, clear state, or next event does not advance, preserve the save and run a controlled reload test. Community reports describe quests that update only after reloading or fail to trigger the next event at all; these are reports, not universal rules.[^1][^2]

Recovery sequence
- Capture the completed objective, reward panel, quest log, and current event state.
- Confirm the live patch version and whether the objective was completed in the intended map or mode.
- Save in a separate slot if possible, return to the title screen, and reload.
- Reopen the quest log and inspect the reward, next objective, and event marker.
- If nothing changed, perform one ordinary nearby action, then check the log again.
Do not abandon the quest, overwrite the only save, or repeat a long chain until you have a before/after record.
Separate the three failure states
| Symptom | What to inspect |
|---|---|
| Objective remains incomplete | The final action, map, and visible counter |
| Objective is complete but reward is missing | Reward panel, inventory, and reload result |
| Reward is present but next event is absent | Quest log, event marker, and prerequisite state |
This separation makes a support report actionable and prevents a reward issue from being mistaken for a hidden achievement condition.
Report template
Include the quest title, exact objective text, map and mode, save slot, patch number, final action, screenshots before and after reload, and whether a nearby action changed the state. Link the report to the current known issues page so later patch reviews can close or update it.
FAQ
Does reload always fix the quest?
No. Some players report progress after reloading, while others still cannot trigger the next event. Treat reload as a low-risk test, not a guaranteed workaround.
Should I replay the entire quest chain?
Only after preserving evidence and checking the current patch discussion. Repeating a chain can hide the original reproduction.
Can this block completion achievements?
It can prevent a visible objective or event from reaching its final state. Compare the Steam tracker separately with the 100% completion guide.
